the gospel: presented plain and simple

God

God is the infinite, eternal, holy Creator of all things. He alone is worthy of all praise, honor, glory, and worship.

Since this is who He is, He cannot and will not leave sin unpunished (Exodus 34:7).

Man

God created mankind in His own image to glorify Him in perfect relationship together, and in a special role as God’s appointed representative in creation.

But all mankind fell into sin through their representative Adam (Romans 5:12).

And all people affirm Adam’s decision by their own willful rebellion against God (Romans 3:9-18).

Therefore, all of humanity is born spiritually dead in sin (Ephesians 2:1-3).

Christ

God the Father sent His Son to earth to take on human flesh in order to bring salvation to mankind.

Jesus Christ lived a perfect life of obedience to God and gave Himself up as the once-for-all perfect blood-sacrifice for sin. (2 Corinthians 5:21; Hebrews 10:12).

On the third day after His death by crucifixion He rose from the dead demonstrating His victory over sin and death (1 Corinthians 15:3-4).

Response

Sinners (i.e. all of humanity) cannot hope to earn their forgiveness by their own good works.

In order to be saved, God commands all people everywhere to repent of their sins and trust in Jesus (Acts 17:30; 20:21).

Indeed, all who call upon the name of Jesus in faith will be saved (Romans 10:9, 13; John 3:16, 5:24).
